Moonrise Meadows Art
Michelle Triaca

I create multimedia paintings that serve as a tactile archive of the Northeastern United States. My work is a visual and physical exploration of details I find in the landscapes I love to wander, specifically the quiet transition between the dense woods and the open meadows.
Rather than simply depicting nature, I incorporate the environment itself into my canvases. My process involves gathering wild grass and seeds from the field and weaving them together with bits of embroidery, vintage buttons, and fragments of antique book end papers. These found objects act as a bridge between the raw, organic beauty of the earth and the delicate, nostalgic history of human craft.
By layering these materials, I create a sculptural surface that mimics the complexity of the forest floor and the rhythmic sway of meadow grass. I want the viewer to feel a deep sense of place—a connection to the land that is both wild and intimately remembered.
